No contracts. You are always free to leave.
A plain explanation of how leaving works, what is transferred, what happens to domains and how to avoid surprises on either side.
You are free to go at any time
We work without contracts, so you are always free to leave. A 30 day notice is standard and appreciated, but it is not required.
This page explains exactly how leaving works, so there are never surprises for either side.
When everything is paid up
If nothing is owed and there are no open projects, everything is transferred and you keep ownership of what is yours.
If you have your own domain, we do not ask you to move ownership of that domain to us. We simply make changes to the DNS and move your website to our servers. When you cancel, your website and domain settings are moved for you, or the files are sent, whichever you prefer.
If something is owed
If there are overdue fees, outstanding projects or obligations that have not been met, no transfers of domains or website files will be made until they are cleared up.
Once everything is settled, the transfer goes ahead promptly. We will list anything outstanding in writing so it is clear what needs to be settled.
Open projects and unexpected costs
Projects that are open when you leave may carry further costs if you want to keep what has been built. The same is true of costly ideas you agreed to fund and then pulled back from, which can leave expenses that continue long after you go.
To keep this fair for everyone, the scope and cost of any project are put in writing before it begins.
Domains we register
If we register a domain for use in a campaign under a monthly agreement, and our work makes that domain rank or gives it value beyond the cost of a domain name, it is an asset that we own. You will not be able to simply leave with it.
All domains Top Search SEO registers are our property, and we retain all rights to them unless otherwise agreed in writing. If this situation arises, we will always offer a buyout of the asset.
If you did not register your own domain
If you do not register a domain yourself, in most cases you will not leave with that domain unless it is in writing that you will retain ownership. Please ask about this at the start, not at the end.
The simplest way to protect yourself
Always register your own domains and pay for your website up front, rather than asking your marketing company to cover things in the hope of getting a lot of work for very little and then leaving with it. It never works like that, with us or with any honest company.
Owning your domain and paying for your website at the start keeps everything simple, and it keeps your assets yours.
How to cancel
Call (615) 891-5435 or send a message through the contact page. Tell us the date you would like to leave and where you want your website to go. We confirm everything in writing, list anything outstanding and complete the transfer.
Our agreements are plain and fair. They are not long-term contracts, but they are binding, and we honor ours as we expect you to honor yours. This page is a plain-language summary and not legal advice.
No lock-in, a fair exit and everything in writing, so leaving is as easy as starting.
